Selecting the right Muhurtham for a Telugu wedding is one of the most important pre-wedding activities. The date must satisfy multiple Panchangam criteria: an auspicious Tithi in Shukla Paksha, a favorable Nakshatram, absence of Rahukalam and Yamagandam during the ceremony window, and compatibility with the bride and groom's birth stars (Nakshatra Porutham).
Key Criteria for Marriage Muhurtham
The Nakshatrams approved for marriage in Telugu tradition are: Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati. Among Tithis, Dvitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, and Trayodashi in Shukla Paksha are preferred. The Lagnam (ascendant at the ceremony time) must be free from malefic aspects.
Months to Prefer and Avoid
Telugu families traditionally prefer Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Magha, and Phalguna months for weddings. Ashadha (Chaturmas begins) and Bhadrapada (Mahalaya Paksha) are generally avoided. Within Dhanurmasa (Margashira through Pushya), no marriage Muhurthams are observed as the Sun transits Sagittarius.
How to Check 2025–2026 Dates
Use the Mana Pandit Muhurtham page and select 'Marriage' as the occasion. The tool shows all Muhurtham dates for the selected month, listing the Nakshatram, Tithi, Lagnam, and Paksha for each date. Always cross-check the selected date with your family astrologer to confirm Nakshatra Porutham between the bride and groom.
